$9,000,000 of Western Australian tax payers money is to go into research on GM crops based in Katanning and Merreden to test crops provided by biotechnology companies. Couple of questions? what about the farmers and people who do not want GM crops here when does the public get its say in the investment.
I'd like to see $9,000,000 go into testing the thousands of heritage seeds which also may have a good result....
Quote from a farmer with 55 Ha of GM canola "Cannot see what the problem is if they provide better yield and cost margin"
Well Mr Farmer what about the right and wrong of GM crops and the thoughts about ethics of the situation. The mighty dollar is not always the way to follow.
